The following listings are for packaged folding kayak rigs.
These rigs will fit on Klepper, Nautiraid, and Folbot brand kayaks or kayaks of similar configurations. We are working on an installation to fit Feathercraft kayaks, but can not offer a rig for these boats at this time. The listed rigs are complete with instructions, sail, and all of the hardware you will normally need to install the rig on your boat. The Base BATWING™ rig packages contain a BATWING™ sail, a mast, the FOLDING KAYAK RIG-KIT including varnished wood leeboard, thwart tube with BSD’s superior coaming clamp system or canoe mount system, and all necessary rope and cleats. The TWINS™ rig packages include a TWINS™ sail, mast, appropriate installation hardware for each boat, and necessary rope and cleats. Our rigs do not include a rudder but one is usually available from the dealer of your folding boat. We have sold many rigs for the three above mentioned brands of folding kayaks and they all sail quite well. In addition to our unique clamp system, BSD folding kayak rigs are the only rigs available that can use the patented BOSS™ outriggers. The BOSS™ system uses inflatable floats or amas and is very lightweight with each outrigger assembly weigh-ing less than 3 pounds. A typical 32 sq. ft. BATWING™ BOSS™ rig for a double folding kayak would weigh approximately 22 pounds and will break down for stowage aboard or at home in the closet. These rigs can and do travel anywhere you can take your folding kayak. Combine the strongest, lightest, sim-plest, most user friendly hardware with the best built, most efficient sails ever offered and you have fold-ing kayak rigs that can’t be beat. We’re confident that you will not find a better value in sail equipment for your folding kayak. The selection of a rig is dependent upon the size of and load in the boat, the conditions where it will be sailed, and the skill of the sailor. The other judgments include the intended percentage of use between paddle and sail. We can make BATWING™ sails of various sizes from 12 to 38 square feet. We have list-ed our most popular rigs in the price list. If there is a rig of interest that you don’t see listed please con-tact us. We have supplied kits for una and schooner rigs for folding kayaks. If you have any trouble choos-ing a rig for your needs, just drop us a line or give us a call, we’re happy to help. Klepper™ kit shown below in drawing taken from Klepper™ installation instructions. Folbot™ clamps are different. Folbot™ and Nautiraid™ use a mast partner which is not shown. BSD’s clamp system allows the thwart to be held in position with minimal clamp pressure. Other systems require excessive clamp pressure that can damage clamps and coamings. PACKAGED FOLDING KAYAK RIGSഊThe BATWING™ prices listed are for package rigs to fit Klepper, Nautiraid or Folbot folding kayaks. Although the prices are the same the hardware will vary from boat to boat. When ordering, please speci-fy what boat the rig is to fit or call us to discuss your needs before ordering. We offer other variations so a consultation may be advised. The 32 is our most popular sail for singles or doubles. The 38 is a spe-cialty sail, optimized for light wind sailing and we only recommend it for sailors who plan to sail mostly in areas of light winds. A SPORT™ rig comes with a BATWING SPORT” sail and an EXPEDITION™ rig comes with a BATWING EXPEDITION™ sail, otherwise the rigs are identical. Front sheeting rigs are normally used when the rig is stepped in such a way that the person controlling the sail is sitting under the sail, such as when the rig is on a single or when it is mounted behind the front seat on a double. FRONT SHEETING with HARKEN™ cam cleat option not available for Klepper rigs for mounting in stan-dard Klepper mast partner. Rigs for FOLBOT GREENLAND II’s are normally mounted forward and would not be rigged with front sheeting options. **We offer a more economical coaming mount which is only recommended for boats such as the Folbot Greenland series kayaks with plastic or metal coamings. The coaming mount is one we use on our canoe rigs and is not recommended for boats with wooden coam-ings. The canoe mount is not easily compatible with spray deck use. This more economical mount is best for daysailing without a spray deck. If you have any questions at all, contact us.

Cordialement. Ako
